A Cizhou Type Painted 'bugs & plants' Pillow

金代 磁州窑系 “封诸侯”纹 瓷枕

Jin dynasty, 13th century

 

Cizhou Type of Shanxi Province 山西窑口

 

Width 29 cm, Height 8,6 cm.

 

The octagonal faceted body with slightly dished top, carved through the white slip with two leafy stems, a bug flying amongst on atop, all reserved on punched ground, similarly carved to the sides with panels of flowers, covered overall with a glaze of ivory tone.
